Spy for the revolution in this interactive book where YOU decide what happens next! Packed with 19 possible endings!

Choose Your Own Adventure books–the 4th bestselling children’s series of all time–now include historical fiction, in which you’re an actual historic spy! Kids and adults agree, these are the books that get 9- to 12-year-olds reading.

The year is 1781 and George Washington is commanding thousands of troops in Yorktown, Virginia, on the brink of the most important battle of the war. YOU are James Armistead, a brave and literate enslaved person in Virginia. Marquis de Lafayette, one of Washington’s key officers, approaches you with the most critical choice of your life: Do you join the Revolutionary army as a top secret spy or find freedom on your own terms? As a spy for the revolution, you might change the course of history, but whose liberty will you really be fighting for? Be careful, the choices YOU make might end in glory, disaster, or certain death.

Recommended by teachers and librarians for educational features including:
  • Curriculum friendly! Downloadable teachers’ guide.
  • Additional classroom materials available upon request.
  • Learn about James Armistead Lafayette, whose efforts were instrumental in helping the revolutionary forces defeat the British, and yet whose story has been almost entirely left out of history books.
  • Delineate fact from fiction with back matter that teaches you the true story that inspired the book.
Kyandreia Jones received a Creative Writing BFA from Hamilton College in Clinton, New York. She was born and raised in South Florida. When she thinks of home she likes to muse that she is in a “sunshine state of mind.” Jones’ poetry and prose has been published in various college literary publications and magazines such as Red Weather, Grasping Roots, The Black List Journal and The Underground. Opportunities like having her first short story “At Home” published by Living Spring Publishers in Stories Through the Ages, College Edition 2017 inspired Jones to take her writing to new heights. Working for Choose Your Own Adventure has been the highlight of Jones’ career and she cannot wait to see what other adventures await her! Jones values reading, writing, laughing, and promoting universal kindness. She lives in the Miami area with her dog, Noble.
