A consoling poetry companion to page through in times of difficulty.

This supportive anthology of a hundred specially chosen poems is here to help. Whatever the shape of your struggle, there’s a poem here to guide you through it, providing a shoulder to cry on or a helping hand. There are meditations on the nature of life, grief, and memory, and how the fabric of life and death weave together. Poets young and old, classic and contemporary, give their perspectives on loss across all its forms.

This collection of poems includes the likes of Shakespeare’s timeless observations, Maya Angelou’s thoughtful philosophizing, the ancient wisdom of Lao Tzu, and much more. You can trust in the poetry of some of the brightest and most sensitive minds throughout history to reach out to you through your feelings to offer you relief and understanding in confusing times.
Liz Ison studied English literature at Cambridge before training as a speech and language therapist. She has a doctorate from University College London for research into childhood speech and literacy development. In 2015, after ten years in education research for the UK government, Ison trained with British charity The Reader and has since been running shared reading groups, both in person and online.
