Enter the Great Snow Forest to discover the true meaning of Christmas in this beautifully produced Spanish translation of a holiday classic from Caldecott Medalist Trina Schart Hyman.

Once upon a time there was a little girl who had never heard of Christmas and did not know what it was. Curious, the little girl set off into the snowy woods in search of Christmas, gathering a memorable troupe of five animal companions along the way: a curious cat, a sad-faced hound, a regal hawk, a wise old fox, and an amusing nightingale.

Throughout the story, each of the girl’s companions raises questions: What does Christmas feel like? Is it comfortable and warm? What does it sound like? Does it laugh? Does it shriek? But beneath the gently falling snow, the titular six discover a different answer to their questions than expected: Christmas is how Christmas feels.

A timeless classic, this stunning Spanish-language reissue of Caldecott Medalist Trina Schart Hyman’s gentle, introspective holiday tale leaves readers with the greatest Christmas story of all: that Christmas is not only where you find it; it’s what you make of it.
Trina Schart Hyman (1939 - 2004) received one Caldecott Medal and three Caldecott Honors during her distinguished career. From the age of four she knew that she would become an illustrator. She insisted that drawing was her reason for being. "I drew because I needed to," she said, "as well as for the sheer joy of it." She created iconic, exquisite illustrations for more than 150 books. Born in Philadelphia, she lived most of her life in New Hampshire.
