As 2024 heads to a close, trendspotters are already predicting the next big colors of 2025. Barbie pink dominated 2023 while baby blue and “brat” green took over in 2024. What will the next year’s chromatic vibes be? Read on to find out!
Pantone’s official color of 2025, Mocha Mousse, has us thinking about cups of morning coffee, nude lip colors, and zen home design. Pantone describes this soft, neutral, slightly pink-ish hue as “a mellow brown infused with a sensorial and comforting warmth.” While brown may not seem like the most exciting pick, Mocha Mousse has a calm, earthy vibe that promotes a sense of harmony and balance. Neutrals have long been a staple of interior designers for their ability to tone down the visual noise of a space and create a tranquil escape. Luxe illustrated books with linen covers in the mocha family will be a sleek, stylish finishing touch for any design-forward table display.
Following in the quirky, whimsical footsteps of mushrooms and strawberries, cherries are the new fashionable produce motif. Find cherry prints on everything from shower curtains and t-shirts to home decor and handbags. Cherries appear on Pinterest’s 2025 trend predictions as a more grown-up and sensual evolution of the demure, baby pink “coquette” aesthetics of the last couple years. This bold, eye-catching color pulls no punches, bringing to mind fast vintage sportscars, femme fatale red lipsticks, and the allure of a passionate romance. Our favorite cherry red covers are sure to add energy, humor, and intrigue to your next bookish assort.
A stark contrast from Pantone’s bet on neutral harmony, IKEA’s color of 2025 is electric blue. Though bright blue is of course an IKEA staple (see your cupboard full of blue colored totes), this shade builds on blue’s growing popularity in 2024 and again represents an evolution from the soft, dreamy, “coquette” blues to a vibrant, modern, and maximalist take on the color. This hue makes us think of the iconic cyan of the Grecian sea or the retro digital blue of the Y2K-era internet. While electric blue and cherry red are both bold color choices, blue in any shade enjoys a bit more versatility. In IKEA’s write up, they say, “The beautiful thing about blue is it can be the hero of your color story or work swimmingly as an accent.” Go big and let blue speak for itself, or add a pop of color to a neutral palette for a more restrained touch of personal flair.
Charli XCX made brat green the color of the summer in 2024. Neon lime with a hint of yellow for vibrancy, this iconic color doesn’t seem to be going anywhere any time soon. Brat green is the color of freshly activated glowsticks in the middle of a rave and the in-your-face energy of a DIY Manic Panic dye job. A little loud, a little off-putting, and 100% modern, brat green screams youth and brings to mind Billie Eilish’s now retired bright green highlights. If we could assign generational colors, this vibe-y verdant shade would belong wholly to Gen Z.
